Triple X Syndrome Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Triple X Syndrome Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment ? Triple X syndrome is a chromosomal abnormality affecting approximately 1 in 1000 women. Women normally have 2 X chromosomes, one from each parent. In three X syndromes, a woman has three X chromosomes. Triple X syndrome is usually caused by an error in the mother’s egg cell or father’s sperm cell formation, and it occurs in the development of the embryo as a result of random error in the cells. In this article, we will explain triple x syndrome causes, symptoms, and treatment below.

Triple X Syndrome

In most people, there are 46 chromosomes that occur in 23 pairs, from one mother and one father plus two sex chromosomes. These chromosomes contain genes that carry instructions that determine everything from your height to your eye color. One of these pairs of chromosomes determines your gender. You get a sex chromosome, one from your mother and one from your father. our mother can only give you an X chromosome, but your father can pass you an X or a Y chromosome. If you take an X chromosome from your father, the XX pair makes you genetically female. If you take a Y chromosome from your father, your XY pair means you are genetically male.

Triple X Syndrome Causes

Women with Triple X syndrome have a third X chromosome. Although this is genetic, it is typically not hereditary. Instead, what usually happens is that an extra X chromosome appears because either the mother’s egg or the father’s sperm cell is not formed correctly. Generally, when its cause is malformed egg or sperm, all cells in the offspring have extra chromosomes. Sometimes the extra chromosome is not visible until the early stages of embryo development. And, it can be said that the woman has a triple X syndrome in the form of a mosaic. In mosaic form, only some of the body cells have the third X chromosome because only some cells contain extra X chromosomes, women with mosaic form of triple X syndrome may have less severe symptoms.

This counseling usually involves teaching new techniques and strategies for learning, as well as providing help and motivation to use these tips in daily life.
  • If your daughter is diagnosed with triple X syndrome, her doctor may recommend periodic scans throughout her childhood. This may help to promptly treat any developmental delay or learning disabilities that may occur.
  • Since the chromosomal change causing triple X syndrome cannot be fixed, the syndrome itself has no treatment. However, since most symptoms are curable, and often no symptoms are seen. It is quite possible to lead a normal life with this syndrome.
