A man in Vietnam survived 18 years after having forgotten scissors in his stomach during surgery. His escape from the scissors was possible as a result of a coincidence. Vietnamese Ma Van Nhat was involved in a car accident in 1998. The removal was operated in the hospital. But the scissors in his stomach were forgotten on the operating table.
Used drugs for years with a diagnosis of ulcer
Nhat’s pain continued after the surgery. The painkillers he took didn’t help either. Nhat could not find a cure for his pain, even though he went doctor to doctor. Moreover, doctors said that these pains could be caused by stomach ulcers. He prescribed medicine and started treatment.
X-ray was the salvation
The 54-year-old Vietnamese went to the hospital after another accident last month. The X-ray revealed the 18-year mystery. Nhat had a six-inch pair of scissors in his stomach. Nhat went under the knife again to get rid of the scissors that had been forgotten in his stomach years ago.
The scissors were removed with a successful operation. The hospital management is now trying to find the doctor who operated on Nhat. Nhat has also been happy to get rid of his almost chronic pain for 18 years.
