Australia approves Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine
The Therapeutic Products Administration (TGA), which makes medical regulations in Australia, announced that it has approved the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer.
Stating that the presentation made by Pfizer was thoroughly and independently reviewed, TGA announced that the vaccine was approved for use in Australia after it was decided that the vaccine meets the high safety, efficacy and quality standards.
The statement pointed out that the approval will be valid for 2 years, and it was emphasized that the reliability of the vaccine will continue to be monitored in Australia and abroad.
After the approval of the Pfizer vaccine, which eliminated the feature of being the first vaccine to be used in Australia, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that he welcomed the decision and said that his goals as the government were “to keep Australians safe, protect their lives and livelihoods”.
Stating that they are planning to start the vaccination study at the end of February, Prime Minister Morrison said, “We are looking at the end of February rather than mid-February to start vaccination due to the difficulties we see in production and delivery for both AZ (AstraZeneca vaccine) and Pfizer.”

Stating that the TGA, which approved the vaccine, “puts safety above everything”, Health Minister Greg Hunt stated that they initially planned to exceed 80,000 Australians per week.
Stating that the vaccine is approved to be administered to healthy individuals over the age of 16, but it is necessary to apply “clinical decision” to elderly and poor people, Australian Health Undersecretary Dr. “The benefits of vaccination should be considered, as well as the risks,” said Brendan Murphy.
